Why has the interest rate gone down on my account?

We no longer offer the 40 Day Notice ISA and have withdrawn this product. As a result we are migrating your account to our Flexi ISA. This has to be undertaken at the start of a new tax year, to allow you to transact under the new flexible rules and benefit from the functionality described below.

Therefore as an interim step we are transferring your ISA account to an Instant Access ISA - the rates on this product are the same as the Flexi ISA, but lower than those currently on the 40 Day Notice ISA.

Why has my account been changed?

In April 2016 the Government introduced the concept of a Flexible ISA which allows for funds to be withdrawn and replaced within the same tax year without the repayments being included in your annual subscription amount. This means that, should an emergency arise and you need access to funds quickly, you can now use your ISA savings without losing your tax benefits, provided you replace the money in the same tax year. In order for you to benefit from this enhanced flexibility we need to move you to our Flexible ISA product at the start of the new tax year.

Once your account has been migrated you will be able to transfer previous year’s subscriptions into the Instant Access ISA & Flexi Cash ISA.

Please note the sort code and account number will not change and the migration of your accounts will not impact your annual subscription limit or the funds held in your account. If you haven’t fully utilised your ISA allowance you can continue to subscribe to your account as it is classed as the same ISA.

Withdrawals

If you wish to transfer funds to another ISA provider you must contact them and complete a Transfer Authority Form. Your new provider will then contact us to have the funds transferred for you.

If you have a 40 Day Notice ISA and wish to transfer your ISA to another provider, we will waive the notice period and penalty fee until you migrate to the Instant Access ISA on 6th March 2017.

If you wish to withdraw funds from your Cash ISA account please note that if the funds are not transferred to another ISA, the funds will no longer be eligible for tax benefits.

You can make a withdrawal through your local branch or by downloading and completing this template(PDF, 476 KB", Opens in a new window) and sending it to the Cash ISA Team, Bering House, Mariner Court, Clydebank Business Park, Clydebank, G81 2NR.
