    Information

You will not pay interest on new purchases if you pay your statement balance in full and on time. Otherwise, the period over which interest is charged is as follows:

      From Until
Purchases Date debited to your account Repaid in full
Cash advances Date debited to your account Repaid in full*
Balance transfers Date debited to your account Repaid in full

    * If you pay the balance in full, the interest charge for the period from the previous statement to the date of full payment will be debited the following month. If you default in the introductory period you will lose the benefit of any Introductory Rate and your account will incur interest at the Monthly / Annual Rate for the relevant balance. For further details please refer to your credit card terms and conditions.
Allocation of Payments If you do not repay the entire balance on your account we will apply the amount you pay to the outstanding balance starting with those items to which the highest rate applies. For further details please refer to your credit card terms and conditions.
Minimum Repayment Each month you must pay us at least the minimum payment set out in your statement. This will be an amount equal to the greater of:
    • All interest and default fees added to your account that month together with 1% of the remaining balance on your account or
    • £5 (or the statement balance if it is less than £5)

  • Frequently asked questions

I applied for a credit card online. How long will this take?

We’ll tell you within five working days if your application has been approved. If it has, we’ll send you an application form to sign. When we get that back from you, we’ll post your new card within five working days.

I received a technical error after I submitted my application. Do I need to re-apply?

No, there’s no need to do anything. We’ll confirm your application in writing, normally within five working days of receiving it.

My application has been referred. What does this mean to me?

This means we can’t give you an immediate decision and we’ll write to you to let you know if your application has been approved. This could take up to 14 business days.

I want to transfer a balance, how long does this take?

We’ll send you a balance transfer form with your application pack. Fill this in and send it back to us with your signed application. Once your new credit card account is opened, we’ll make the transfer. This can take some time so keep on making your normal payments to your existing credit card companies until the balance transfer has been processed.

How do I make a balance transfer?

If you’re a new credit card customer - you can include the balance transfer details on you initial online application. You can also complete the balance transfer request in your application pack, if you didn’t include the details on your original application.

If you already have a Clydesdale Bank credit card, just call us on 08447 367 361.

I entered the wrong amount on the Balance Transfer section of the online application form. What should I do?

When you receive your application form to sign, there will be a balance transfer request form in your pack. Put the right amount in this form and send it back to us.

Can I do more than one balance transfer?

Yes, providing you’ve got enough available funds within your credit limit.
