The Current Account Switch Service is free to use. The service is available to personal customers and small businesses, charities and trusts. Once you have chosen and agreed your switch date with us, we guarantee it will take only seven working days.

*Overdraft transfer is subject to status and eligibility. Please note that if you have an overdraft facility on your old account, you must make sure that the limit on your new account is sufficient to cover the whole debit balance on the old account. If this is not the case, we won’t be able to transfer the full balance and your old account will not be closed.
Once you’ve asked us to start your switch by completing the switching forms and choosing your switch date, we’ll contact your old bank or building society to arrange the switch and let you know they have agreed to the request.
We’ll transfer all your payment arrangements across to your new account and make sure your new account is ready for the switch date.
If there’s a debit balance on your old account, you need to make sure there’s enough money in your new account with us, to cover the transfer.
Your switch will be complete. The balance will be transferred to your new account and your old account will be closed.
Any payments made to your old account will be credited to your new account automatically, for 36 months. We’ll also contact the sender to let them know your new account details, so they can update their records.
New customers select which account is right for you. If you are a sole applicant who doesn't need an overdraft you can apply and switch online, for all other applicants our advisors will manage the switch for you either over the phone or in branch.

Make sure your old bank has your current address. Let them know if you’ve moved house or you’re now living in student term-time accommodation. If any of your address details are out of date, we will not be able to make the switch until you’ve updated them.
If you’re recently married or have changed your name for any other reason, please make sure your old bank has updated your personal details.
Check that your old bank holds your correct date of birth.
