Clydesdale Bank 40

Supporting local communities - Backing the Clydesdale Bank 40 all the way

Clydesdale Bank is delighted to continue its title sponsorship of the domestic 40 over competition, the Clydesdale Bank 40, for the third year running.

Clydesdale Bank has been a long term supporter of cricket and the ECB. Not only have they been an official partner of the domestic Twenty20 competition between 2005 and 2009, the Bank has also established links with Yorkshire CCC, as well as England ODI captain, Alastair Cook, Durham all-rounder and most capped ODI, Paul Collingwood and most capped England cricketer of all time, Alec Stewart.

CB40 - Winners 2011The Clydesdale Bank 40 is one of three competitions making up the 2012 domestic season. It is the only domestic competition with a Lord’s Cricket Ground final, which will take place this season on September 15th. The 21 teams have already been divided into three groups for the 2012 season with each side aiming to prize the coveted trophy from Surrey’s grasp following their win over Somerset in last year’s final.

Like most good summer activities, the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition is about bringing people together in the local community to enjoy a fun-filled, action-packed, family day out. This year, Clydesdale Bank, and their counterpart in the heartland areas of England, Yorkshire Bank, continues their quest to find and recognise cricket supporters up and down the country.

As well as the Family of the Month and Junior Journo competitions, a new addition for 2012 will be the launch of Clydesdale Bank’s Howzat! campaign, which will reward fans with the chance to win £1,000 for your local cricket club or community scheme by posting videos of themselves and their teammates on Facebook appealing for a wicket, shouting “Howzat!”*.

Fans will also be able to win tickets to Clydesdale Bank 40 matches, signed merchandise from the likes of Cook, Collingwood and Stewart, as well as the chance to have their club emblem on the England opener’s bat for an ODI during the summer.

The Cricket Factory will be popping up at Clydesdale Bank 40 matches as part of the ECB’s Roadshow this summer. The Tour Rig will engage younger people with the sport and challenge all the key basic skills: batting, bowling, throwing, catching and cricket related movement.

John Perera, ECB Commercial Director, said: "We are delighted to continue our association with Clydesdale Bank as the title sponsor for the 40 over competition. The Clydesdale Bank 40 is an exciting competition that comfortably fits into the busy family weekend."

Steve Reid, Retail Director, Clydesdale Bank, said: "The ongoing sponsorship of the Clydesdale Bank 40 competition reinforces our commitment to cricket across the UK, inviting families and local communities to join us in supporting this traditional British game."
