Apply for a UK Bank Account

What you need to do

If you are not yet located in the UK you can use the following information and application form to open a UK bank account before you arrive in the country.

What information do I need before I apply?

  • The address where you will be staying on your arrival in the UK (if available)
  • Your overseas address
  • Your current contact telephone number, mailing address and email address
  • Your current passport details
  • Visa type to be used to enter the UK

What happens next?

Complete and submit the on line application. A confirmation page will be displayed confirming your application has been processed and you will be provided with a unique application reference number.

In order for your application to be progressed a photocopy of your current passport must be forwarded to our Migrant Banking Team in your country of domicile quoting the application reference number.

Providing all the relevant documents have been received your account will be opened and a letter of confirmation, including your new account details and other relevant information, will be issued within two weeks.

Once you have your account number you can transfer money straight into your account. Please note that you will not be able to access any funds deposited in the account until you have arrived in the UK and completed the identification formalities as required by UK anti money laundering regulations. We will be unable to accept cheques for credit to your account until the identification formalities have been completed and until this time funds should be forwarded by Telegraphic Transfer.
