Banking online with confidence

At Clydesdale Bank we offer customers the option of having a security token for use with our internet banking service.

You’ll be asked to use it to authorise certain transactions so this adds another layer of security as we can be sure it’s you making the transaction

What benefit will I get with a security token?

Our customers asked us for higher internet banking transaction limits and more online security. We listened. We increased the daily transaction limit to £25,000, and at the same time introduced the security token to protect against fraud. It gives you the highest security standards the industry has to offer - at no additional cost to you.

When you use your security token, we know it’s you we’re dealing with. That means we can make sure your payments are authorised using a stronger form of authentication, giving you a higher level of protection.

Do I need a security token?

To help you decide if you will need a security token here are some important things to consider;

  • Will you regularly pay bills or transfer funds to accounts other than your own linked accounts above the £500 transaction limit?
  • Do you need to make payments which exceed the current £1000 daily limit?
  • Do you need to set up a standing order for a value greater than £500?
When will I use the security token?

If you are a security token holder we will ask you to use your security token to confirm;

  • The first time you send a payment, regardless of the value, to anyone already on your payee or biller list
  • When you use the ‘Pay Anyone’ facility
  • When you modify or set up new payees or billers
  • When you make changes to your internet banking password, security questions or contact details.
How do I order my security token?

Once you have completed your internet banking registration and have logged in, the security token request option is available within the administration section. This will provide you with all the information you need to order your security token and bank online with confidence.
