Who is eligible for a Cash ISA?
To invest in our Cash ISA, you must be aged 16 years or over and be a resident and ordinarily resident of the UK. A Cash ISA is in one name only, no joint applications are available.
How do I apply?
1) You can download an application form for one of the following Cash ISAs:
- Cash ISA - This is a standard Cash ISA account where you have immediate access to your money, without charge.
- Cash ISA - 40 Day Notice - This is a Cash ISA account where to withdraw money without incurring a charge you must provide us with a minimum of 40 days notice.
2) Call us direct on 0800 012 1111 (open Monday- Friday 8am - 8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm)

What amount can I open a Cash ISA with?
You can open a Cash ISA with just £10 or any amount up to £3,600 or you can open a Cash ISA – 40 Day Notice with a minimum of £500.
How much can I save with my Cash ISA?
The maximum amount you are allowed to save in a Cash ISA or Cash ISA – 40 Day Notice is currently £3,600 per tax year. You can save from as little as £10 via a regular Direct Debit or Standing Order or by cheque. The minimum amount to open a Cash ISA is £10 and the Cash ISA – 40 Day Notice is £500. You cannot lodge additional funds if you have made credits to the value of £3,600 within the same tax year.
With a Cash ISA, you pay no tax whatsoever on your savings.
How can I pay into my Cash ISA?
For Clydesdale Bank Cash ISA’s you can make additional deposits by Direct Debit or Standing Order instruction (if applicable), Telephone/Internet Banking service or top-up at one of our branches by cheque, cash or credit transfer.

Can I vary my regular savings?
Yes. You may increase or decrease your regular monthly savings at any time without any charge. You may also stop your savings, and restart them, at any time without penalty. The minimum monthly amount is £10.
Do I need to provide identification?
To open a Clydesdale Bank Cash ISA account you will need to advise your full name, date of birth and permanent residential address. If you are a new customer to the bank you will need to bring along a form of identification (ID), for example a passport or photocard driving licence.
Other documents are also acceptable, so don't hesitate to contact your local branch and ask for further details.
Even if you are already a Clydesdale Bank customer we may have to ask you for identification for security purposes
Can I withdraw the funds at any time?
Cash ISA - You can withdraw your money at any time, but if you have already paid £3,600 into your Cash ISA during the tax year you cannot replace any of the withdrawn funds. You can withdraw some or all of the balance on your account.
Cash ISA - 40 Day Notice - Withdrawals require 40 days notice. Please note if you do not give 40 days notice you will be charged an equivalent of either 40 days gross interest (which would have been earned on the entire balance of the Cash ISA - 40 Day Notice on the withdrawal date), or a minimum charge of £30, whichever is greater. Following any withdrawal without notice, you will no longer be entitled to a Cash ISA - 40 Day Notice account and your Cash ISA - 40 Day Notice account will switch to a Cash ISA account.
How do I withdraw funds?
You can either complete a withdrawal form at any branch, use our Telephone/Internet Banking service* or send your written instructions to:

* Withdrawals from a Cash ISA – 40 Day Notice Account can not be made via our Telephone/Internet Banking service.
How can I keep track of how my Cash ISA is performing?
Every January we will send you an annual statement showing the value of your Cash ISA as at 31st December.
You can also request a statement of your Cash ISA at any time. We do not currently charge for this service.

Can I transfer my Cash ISA from another provider?
Yes - you can:
- You need to decide which one of our Cash ISAs you would like to transfer your existing ISA(s) to
- You will need to provide us with details of your current provider
- You can apply in Branch
- Call us direct on 0800 012 1111 (open Monday- Friday 8am - 8pm, Saturday 9am-5pm)
- You can also apply by downloading the Transfer Form, completing it and posting it to us.
Our transfer service is free of charge, however, your current provider may charge a fee to transfer and you should check this with them.
You must not close your existing ISA, if you do so you will lose all the tax benefits you have built up over the years, we will arrange for your account to be transferred.
What happens if I have any queries?

Why doesn't the form open when I click on the link?
If the form is giving you an error or simply not opening when you click on the link, firstly make sure that you have the latest version of Acrobat Reader installed (download the latest version of Acrobat Reader here for free).s
If you still experience problems with opening the form, save the file to your computer first then open it from there. To save a file in Internet Explorer, right-click on the link and choose "Save Target As...". In Netscape choose "Save Link Target As..."
