How to apply

Jumpstart Savers Account

The account can be opened and operated in one of two ways:

  • If the child is over 11 years of age, they can open and operate the account in their name provided their parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult agrees. A child over 11 operating their own account may have a debit card, provided their parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult agrees.
  • If the child is under 11, the account can be opened in their name and operated by their parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult. When they reach 11, they can then operate the account if their parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult agrees.

Contact your nearest Clydesdale Bank branch to arrange an appointment and remember to bring the necessary ID (see below for ID requirements).

Identification requirements

A parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult should accompany the child and bring:

  • A document to verify their ID, such as a current passport or photocard driving licence
  • The child's current passport, birth certificate or NHS medical card.

Other documents are also acceptable for both the child and their parent, guardian, grandparent or other responsible adult. If you do not have any of these documents, please ask in branch for further details.

What happens next?

The branch will open the account as quickly as possible.

  • You will receive an information pack when the account is open
  • If you have ordered a debit card this will be sent to you in the post
  • You will then receive regular statements which will show how much money you have and the transactions you have made.

A standing order mandate can be used by an adult to pay money into your account on a regular basis. Your parent, grandparent, guardian or other responsible adult can fill in the form and hand it in at a branch appointment, or to their bank once the account has been opened.
