Child Trust Fund

Give your child's savings a flying start

  • A tax-efficient investment for your Child Trust Fund voucher
  • Extra government payment at age 7 to boost the investment
  • Invest up to £1,200 each year

To encourage saving for our little ones, the government has launched the Child Trust Fund. Every eligible child born on or after 1st September 2002 will be entitled to a £250 voucher to invest in a Child Trust Fund account. If your family qualifies for full Child Tax credit you’ll also get an additional £250 at a later date.

Only the child can access the money and only when they reach 18.  The Child Trust Fund account is a tax-efficient investment and returns are currently free from Income Tax and Capital Gains Tax, although tax legislation may change in the future.

There are different types of Child Trust Fund accounts available. As Family Investments invest the Child Trust Fund account in the Stockmarket, the value of the account can fall as well as rise and your child may not get back the amount invested.
