Enhanced Login Process
Frequently asked questions

Please see below for some frequently asked questions about the enhanced login process
Why has Clydesdale Bank decided to change its Login procedure?
This enhanced login process has been designed to offer even better security and protection when banking online.
What do the additional security features involve?
Previously there had been two steps in the login process.
Under the new login process there will be three steps.
These are:
Step One
You’ll be asked to enter your 10 digit customer number
Step Two
You’ll be asked to enter three characters from your password instead of your full password. Each time you login, you’ll be asked for three different characters.
For example, if your password is "alw4YSth1NK1ng", you might be asked for:
Character 1: a
Character 5: Y
Character 9: 1
When you log in again, you may be asked for:
Character 2: l
Character 4: 4
Character 7: t
Step Three
You’ll be asked to answer one of three security questions. The answers to these questions will already have been chosen by you.

When will these changes take effect?
To make the changeover as smooth as possible, we won’t move all of our online banking customers to the new login process at the same time, it will take place on a phased basis over the next three months
A message on the password screen (login – step two), will let you know that you have now moved over to the new login process.
