Debit Cards issued after September 2009
I’ve received my new debit card and it looks different to my old card, why is this?
We’ve updated your card in a number of ways. The main change is to reduce your card number from 19 digits to 16 digits. Your sort code and account number are also displayed in a more prominent position.
Can I use my existing PIN?
Yes, your existing Personal Identification Number (PIN) will continue, unless the letter with your card advises otherwise.
What if I’m already registered with SecureCode™?
If you already use SecureCode™ on a card issued prior to October 2009 and you have now received a new card, you’ll need to re-register for this service as your debit card details have changed. However once you have registered this card, you will not need to re-register any replacement cards in the future.

Do I need to change my regular payments?
There’s no need to make any changes to Direct Debits and standing orders. However, if you make any regular payments using your debit card you will have to update the retailer with your new card details.
How will I know which card has completed the transactions on my bank statement?
All card transactions will continue to appear on your bank statement but instead of ‘Issue Number’ will now include the last 2 digits of your card number, so you can easily identify which card was used to make a payment.
I’m a joint account customer, why hasn’t my partner received a new card?
Joint account customers may receive their cards at different times depending on their renewal date. However, existing cards will continue to work until you have received your new card.
What should I do if I’ve lost my card?
In the event that your card is lost or stolen, or your PIN or other security information has been disclosed, call 0845 6060 622 (or +44 141 223 2358 if calling from abroad) immediately and report it.
