Shorts Accountants relocates in Chesterfield with Yorkshire Bank backing

13th February 2013

A well-known firm of chartered accountants has relocated to new offices in North Derbyshire after gaining backing from Yorkshire Bank.

Shorts Chartered Accountants, which was founded 120 years ago, has relocated its head office to new 8,000 sq ft premises in Ashgate Road, Chesterfield. Working capital support was provided by Yorkshire Bank’s Business and Private Banking Centre in Sheffield.

The firm, which has six partners and 46 staff in Chesterfield, has relocated to the new two-storey premises, which are redeveloped Victorian offices, from three separate locations in the town.

Paul Beeson, senior partner at Shorts Chartered Accountants, said: “We are extremely pleased and proud of our new headquarters. We feel that we now have a building that reflects the efficiency and focus of Shorts today.

“We have a hugely experienced team and this relocation is the start of an exciting new era for the firm, which is pleased to be supported by a continuing relationship with Yorkshire Bank.”

Shorts Chartered Accountants, founded by Samuel Edward Short in 1890, also has an office on Ecclesall Road, Sheffield, which opened in 2002 and is the base for 12 staff and two partners. The firm provides a wide range of business and private client services, throughout North Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

Steve Wicks, commercial banking relationship manager at Yorkshire Bank, said: “Shorts Chartered Accountants is a high-quality accountancy practice which is expanding at a time when the professional services sector is consolidating due to economic conditions. This relocation will help to position Shorts for future growth and to continue to provide an excellent service to its clients.”
