New healthcare furniture range hits the market with Yorkshire Bank backing

30th October 2012

A major new contract furniture range for the healthcare sector is being designed and launched nationally by a Leeds manufacturing business.

The range, comprising more than 200 items, is being launched by Leeds-based Contract Furniture Solutions Ltd, after gaining backing from Yorkshire Bank's Leeds Business & Private Banking Centre.

Contract Furniture Solutions has spent more than 18 months and £100,000 developing its new range, which includes lounge, dining and bedroom furniture. It involved its customers in the creation of designs to meet the fast-changing needs of the multi-billion pound healthcare industry. Yorkshire Bank is supporting Contract Furniture Solutions with asset finance to develop the new range and support for the development of sales.

The company is led by managing director Piers Leigh and co-director, Shelley Holmes, who have more than 40 years joint experience of contract furniture for the healthcare sector. Piers Leigh said: "The past two years have seen significant changes in the interior design of care homes, housing association accommodation, private hospitals, hospices and the NHS. There has also been increasing competition in the private sector, which has led to upgrades in the environment and facilities.

"Our new range, which incorporates many new housekeeping, posture and safety features, has been developed in close consultation with care home owners in order to produce practical and stylish range of furniture which is aspirational, while also providing top-class care for the service users.

"There has been a vast amount of development and design work but we're very pleased with what is now being launched nationally and believe it will put Contract Furniture Solutions in pole position in this market.

"Yorkshire Bank took the time to understand our business and has come up with creative financial solutions which add genuine value to our business. Yorkshire Bank has been very supportive and we're very pleased with the partnership we're creating."

Contract Furniture Solutions, which was founded seven years ago, has 40 staff and a £2m turnover. It supplies care homes, private hospitals, the NHS and the hotel and leisure sector throughout the UK and the Republic of Ireland.

Mike Harvey, business partner at Yorkshire Bank's Leeds Business and Private Banking Centre, said: "Contract Furniture Solutions has considerable expertise and is operating in a complex, highly-competitive and large market, meeting the needs of an increasingly-elderly UK demographic. A lot of care, consultation and research has gone into the new furniture range which will take the business to the next level. Yorkshire Bank is pleased to be the company's banking partner."
