Clydesdale Bank Goes Kung Fu Fighting

Dunfermline’s JKS Scotland karate club fundraising campaign for its trip to the Karate World Championships in Japan is being supported by Clydesdale Bank’s Fife & West Lothian Financial Solutions Centre (FSC).

40 fighters, aged from 9 to 56, from JKS Karate are representing Scotland at the World Championships in Japan in August and the club has organised a series of activities to raise the £65,000 to fund the trip.

Billy MacLeod, managing partner at the Clydesdale Bank FSC in Dunfermline, is taking part in a sponsored karate class on Wednesday 10 June and has volunteered to be flung and floored by the nation’s best karate experts to help raise the necessary funds.

“I was excited to be taking part in the class and to raise money for the squad, it’s such a great opportunity for them and everybody at the bank wishes them the best of luck out in Japan.

"You wouldn't catch many bank managers doing this but then we pride ourselves on being a very different bank and I'm used to going the distance for the local community” said Billy MacLeod.

Jackie Simpson, who sits on the fundraising committee at JKS Scotland, added: ”We are very proud to be representing Scotland in Japan and the sponsored karate class is one of the many fundraising events we have organised ahead of the tournament.

“We are thankful to everybody who has helped raise funds and any further donations to our cause will be gratefully received. I’m sure the squad will do Scotland proud.”
