Clydesdale Bank keeps on giving to charity

Clydesdale Bank is extending its charity partnership with the British Heart Foundation (BHF) for another year from January 2007 to build on the £330,000 it has already raised.

Clydesdale and sister bank Yorkshire adopted the BHF as their first national "Charity Partner" in January 2005. Since the launch of the partnership, staff and customers have raised more than £300,000 in cash and have also contributed £130,000-plus in gifts in kind.

They will continue raising funds in a variety of ways, including:

• Annual campaigns - Valentine's and Help a Heart
• Volunteering opportunities in shops
• Collections
• Give As You Earn
• Emergency life support training
• Joint community activities
• Teams entering events like the Great North Run and London Marathon

Marjory Burns, Director of BHF Scotland, said: "We're delighted Clydesdale Bank has extended its partnership with us. The partnership is a shining example of joint working - the BHF provides a motivating cause for bank employees and the funds raised have enabled BHF to expand its invaluable Heart Nurse Programme.
              
"Clydesdale has really embraced the partnership, raising a phenomenal amount of money and it's fantastic that this will be continuing throughout 2007."

Clydesdale Bank Chief Operating Officer David Thorburn said: "It's great to know the money we're raising is making a real difference to the work of the BHF, and we are determined to raise even more in 2007. Our staff have been very committed to the fundraising and many have learned vital life-saving skills through BHF training."
