Executive profile: David Thorburn
Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer
David was appointed to the position of Chief Operating Officer, Clydesdale Bank in 2002 and assumed the same responsibilities for Yorkshire Bank in late 2004; having previously been General Manager, Business Financial Services, for Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks. He was appointed Executive Director for the Bank in January 2008.
He joined Clydesdale Bank in 1978 as a graduate trainee with a degree in law from the University of Glasgow. Gaining experience in business and corporate banking at a number of locations, he helped to establish Clydesdale's structured finance unit before being appointed Divisional Manager, running the branch network in the East & North East of Scotland. In 1999, he completed the Advanced Management Programme at Harvard Business School.
David is Chairman of CBI Scotland. He is also a Board Director of Clydesdale Bank PLC.
