Executive profile: John Hooper
Executive Director, National Australia Group Europe
John Hooper as been with National Australia Bank since 1996 having joined the London Branch to help establish a Corporate Finance capability in the region. After a number of roles in London, John moved to Melbourne in September 2002 to become General Manager, Specialised Finance in what was then Corporate and Institutional Banking, responsible for all the Bank’s specialist lending activities around the world. In March 2004 John became head of the global institutional business (nabCapital) for the Group and a member of Group Executive Committee. This posting involved the remediation of the institutional business following a major fraud, overseeing significant growth and cultural change, and then weathering the impact of the global financial crisis. Having held this position for five years John has now joined the UK team and the NAGE Board, moving back to London.
John joined National Australia Bank from Henry Ansbacher & Co Limited where he worked for two years on acquisition and structured asset finance transactions. Before this he spent over nine years, including a four year period in Los Angeles, with Kleinwort Benson concentrating on a broad range of merchant banking activities..
