Yorkshire Bank Corporate & Structured Finance (CSF) has made a key appointment to its West team as part of its continuing growth strategy. Phil Tarimo, the well regarded corporate financier has joined Yorkshire Bank Corporate & Structured Finance as area director, new business covering the North West and Midlands.

Tarimo's role will be to focus on deal origination and transacting of quality corporate deals, refinancings and leveraged transactions. In the mid market CSF are targeting £50m plus turnover companies who are looking for capital for organic or acquisitive growth purposes. He will be using his significant network of regional contacts to seek out opportunities for the bank.

Tarimo recently left South African bank Investec where he was a director and responsible for establishing a presence for the bank's Growth and Acquisition Finance arm in the North. He previously worked in senior leverage finance roles at Royal Bank of Scotland and was a founder member of Deloitte’s debt advisory team in Manchester.

Andy Taylor, regional director for Yorkshire Bank Corporate & Structured Finance who worked with Tarimo for over ten years at Royal Bank of Scotland says; "Phil is a quality banking professional with a first class reputation for deal doing. He has originated many high profile North West deals and took that track record to Deloitte where he was very successful in advising many corporates on their acquisition and financial strategy."

"The bank is committed to growing its share of both the corporate and acquisition finance market. They have a deep understanding of the needs of local businesses and I believe there is a significant opportunity for a customer service led bank with a clear yet flexible proposition to differentiate itself from the traditional clearing banks," says Tarimo.

Taylor adds that the senior appointment is an ongoing illustration of CSF’s growth strategy. "We remain committed to growing our market share and supporting businesses across the North West and Midlands. Capital availability, a track record of deliverability and success evidenced by our growing portfolio of customers now requires additional resource to maintain this thrust and Phil’s significant experience is an opportunity not to be missed."
