Clydesdale expands London Corporate & Structured Finance team with new director

Clydesdale Bank continues to expand its Corporate and Structured Finance team in London with the appointment of Andy Oates as a director.

Andy, who has 11 years experience in corporate finance, joins from the Bank of Scotland where he worked in the Integrated and Acquisition Finance teams for eight years providing debt and equity finance for management buy-outs and leveraged buy-outs. Before joining Bank of Scotland he was a corporate finance advisor with accountancy firm Mazars in London.

He has worked on many high profile deals including the public to private buy-outs of restaurant group Pizza Express, high street fashion chains Oasis and Karen Millen, the UK car insurance group Admiral Insurance and the Denby pottery company.

At Clydesdale Bank, he will be working with both companies and private equity houses to provide acquisition finance in support of transactions they are involved with. He says: “I was attracted to Clydesdale because of the opportunities that are open to it.

“Given the current market conditions Clydesdale has the potential to really develop its offering and continue to make a real impact in the mid-market.”

Andrew Merrifield, regional director with Clydesdale Bank said: “Andy’s appointment is in line with our plan to build the Corporate and Structured Finance team in London. We have developed a strong track record over the last two years as a leading provider of acquisition finance in the UK and Andy's appointment will undoubtedly help us to further build on this success."
