Children’s nursery chalks up impressive growth

A funding package of more than £500,000 from Clydesdale Bank enabled husband-and-wife team Niki and Iain Hendry-Adams to buy the building that houses their children’s nursery – and expand the business.

Niki and Iain increased the number of places at the nursery by 20 per cent to just under 100 as a result of acquiring Bonnington House in the Trinity area of Edinburgh.

Company profile

Niki’s professional expertise and entrepreneurial insight means Bonnington House Nursery is 90 per cent full – less than a year after launching, compared to an industry average of 80 per cent.

Her professional credentials are underpinned by 18 years as a teacher and a master’s degree in psychology of education.

How will the deal help to drive the business?

Niki said: “I’ve always wanted to open my own nursery. The Bank was incredibly supportive, offering us useful advice.

“Securing the premises has already allowed us to expand our services and increase the number of children for whom we care. It will also give us greater flexibility over the site in the future, allowing us to adapt it to the needs of the business.”
